Whether it was Hailey Bieber, a member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan (specifically Khloé, Kylie, or Kendall), or celebrity makeup artist Sir John, there’s a good chance you’ve spotted the Medicube Age-R Booster Pro in the wild.
“The Booster Pro has gained significant popularity due to its proven performance and strong organic adoption among celebrities and influencers,” says Joe Cho, media relations team lead for Medicube. “The device first drew widespread attention after being organically introduced by Hailey Bieber. Following this momentum, Medicube hosted multiple pop-up events in Los Angeles and New York to further increase engagement. In addition, Sir John, Medicube’s global creative director, has played a key role in elevating the device’s profile through his creative leadership and advocacy.”
Surely the gadet’s convenience has also helped its surge. “It’s an effective tool that can be used at home safely, and multitasks so many different angles of enhancing skincare, skin repair, and anti-aging,” says Rachel Nazarian, MD, FAAD, board-certified dermatologist and founder of Nazarian Dermatology. “And the price point is much much lower than many other skincare devices.”
But how do you actually use the Medicube Age-R Booster Pro? We went straight to the source to get input from an expert and tested it first-hand ourselves to get that answer.
What Is the Medicube Age-R Booster Pro?
“The brand’s most iconic innovation, the 6-in-1 device uses electroporation technology to help skincare absorb deeper into the skin while sculpting, tightening, and minimizing the appearance of pores for a glass-skin finish,” Cho says.
Cho explains that the gadget uses electroporation technology to deliver gentle electrical pulses that temporarily create microscopic pathways in the skin, allowing serums and creams to penetrate deeper into the epidermis and significantly enhance product absorption by up to 785%, while bypassing dead skin cells. “As a result, skincare actives are delivered more effectively, improving hydration, brightness, and overall skin performance,” he says.
Dr. Nazarian seconds that the device has a multitude of benefits. “It can enhance absorption of topical ingredients, improve circulation, and decrease inflammation, along with stimulation of collagen and elastin production,” she says. “It’s a small device that manages to cover a great range of targets in skincare.”

What Are the Different Modes and What Order Do I Go In?
The Booster Pro features multiple modes that can be used consecutively for optimal results. When using more than one mode in a single routine, the brand recommends the following order: Air Shot Mode → Booster Mode → MC Mode → Derma Shot Mode.
“Booster Mode enhances the absorption of active ingredients, allowing skincare actives to penetrate more effectively and helps to boost overall glow and skin vitality,” Cho says. “Air Shot Mode helps improve the appearance of pores. It activates with just one point of contact, making it efficient for treating wide-pored areas such as the T-zone and U-zone. MC Mode supports a more volumized appearance in areas prone to sagging, such as around the eyes and mouth. Derma Shot Mode is optimized to target areas where more definition is needed.”
After using Air Shot Mode on dry skin, apply a serum that targets your specific skin concerns, then switch to Booster Mode to enhance the absorption of skincare actives. The brand recommends using the PDRN Pink Peptide Serum followed by PDRN Capsule Cream for skin repair and overall skin resilience. Try the Kojic Acid Turmeric Niacinamide Serum and Kojic Acid Turmeric Vita Capsule Cream to help even skin tone and address hyperpigmentation. To support brightness and radiance, use the Deep Vita C Capsule Serum or Deep Vita C Capsule Cream.
“Once your skincare products are applied, you may continue using the device with MC Mode and Derma Shot Mode,” Cho says. “Apply additional skincare as needed to ensure smooth gliding of the Booster Pro across the skin and to maintain comfort during use.”
One of the perks of the device is that you can use other skincare brands with it. “The Booster Pro is not limited to Medicube products, making it highly adaptable and easy to incorporate into any existing skincare routine,” Cho says. “For best results, water-based products are recommended, as they work more effectively with the device.”
However, the brand does not recommend using retinol or tretinoin products with the Booster Pro, as these ingredients are already highly concentrated and potent on their own. Additionally, products containing spicules, micro-needles, or other highly active ingredients that may cause irritation even without the device should be avoided, as using them with the Booster Pro can increase the risk of skin irritation.
How Often Should I Use the Medicube Age-R Booster Pro?
For best results, the brand suggests using the Booster Pro one to three times a day. However, Air Shot Mode should only be used two to three times per week because it provides an exfoliating effect on the skin. When using Air Shot Mode, make sure the skin is completely dry, as the device does not conduct effectively when skincare products are applied beforehand. Additionally, avoid using the Booster Pro on the thyroid area.
Dr. Nazarian emphasizes that consistency is key, along with pairing it with good topicals. “All skin and health improvement takes time and commitment—you won’t see magical long lasting results after one use, but long-term use can make a big different in collagen and elastin stimulation,” she says. “Also, it enhances absorption of topicals, so choose your ingredients cautiously to pick ones that are gentle and effective.”
Ultimately, it’s an easy way to upgrade your regimen. “The Booster Pro brings a true at-home spa experience to your daily skincare routine,” Cho says. “While visits to beauty clinics can be limited by time and accessibility, this device makes it easy to maintain healthy, glowing skin from the comfort of home.”
My Review
The first time I tried the Medicube Age-R Booster Pro, I went all in and tried all four modes, in the order the brand suggested. First, I tried the Air Shot Mode on freshly washed, dry skin. I have pretty sensitive skin (I’m the type who always leaves a facial bright red), so I was a little nervous having read that this treatment can feel spicy. But after initially trying it on level 1, I went all the way up to level 5 and didn’t feel any burning—it was soft and subtle the entire time.
Next, since I struggle with hyperpigmentation, I applied the Kojic Acid Turmeric Niacinamide Serum. I did the full 5-minute Booster Mode session, slowly gliding the device upwards from the inside to the outside of my face. Meant to improve radiance, I did see a noticeable difference with an added glow immediately after.
Then it was time for MC Mode. I applied the Kojic Acid Turmeric Vita Capsule Cream before getting started, which has a gel-like texture, making it easier for the device to glide across my skin. This mode is meant to volumize the appearance of fine lines, and I did notice that one fine line seemed a bit softer after the 5-minute session, but applying the cream could have contributed to that, too.

I ended with the Derma Shot Mode, which uses red LED light to relax facial muscles. The instructions said to pause for 2 seconds at muscle points to relax them, but I wish the user manual had provided more detailed instructions on exactly where to pause.
Overall, the learning curve isn’t bad, but at first, it was hard not to accidentally hit the “mode” button with my finger while in use, which changes the mode mid-treatment, automatically starting a new sequence all over again. Once I figured out a better way to hold the device, it stopped happening, though it was annoying initially. After working my way through the four treatments, I was only the tiniest bit red, which faded quickly.
My skin definitely looked more radiant, plumper, and smoother. The only catch is that with each treatment taking 5 minutes (and you could do each up to 10 minutes, except for the Air Shot), it came to a grand total of 20 minutes, which is a bit of a commitment, especially since Medicube says three of the treatments can be done up to three times daily. Though I’m sure the results would be great, I know that’s not realistic for me, so I’ll stick to using the device as often as I can (which I want to be every day, but I know will end up being a few times a week). Over time, hopefully, my pores will thank me.
